Digital dental radiography - an unprecedented imaging technique

Our new CR7 digital processor is giving us fabulous images of teeth, allowing a fuller evaluation of the structure of diseased teeth and a far better assessment of the potential treatment options.

In these two examples while the crowns of the lower canines looked normal, that on the left shows that the roots are dissolving away and

Alterations which will help us to improve our care for visiting cats are complete.  ‘Cat-only’ surgery times are now available on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays so that cats can visit the clinic free from the risk of intimidation by dogs in the waiting room, and a separate, dedicated ‘cat-only’ waiting area is available for those clients who unavoidably need to come to our standard ‘open’ surgeries.  New, larger kennels have being installed in our ‘cat-only’ kennelling area to improve the comfort of our more ‘long-stay’ feline in-patients, and a webcam installed to more easily monitor them ‘out-of-hours’.

Back to the future…?

We are delighted to welcome back some familiar faces

Many of you will remember nurse Marianne Moore who trained and worked with us for ten years before she moved to Yorkshire to work in an emergency night clinic. Marianne has now moved back north with her young daughter and we are delighted to be working alongside her again

Receptionist Karen tried to retire to the south coast but found herself drawn north again when two strands of her decided that Carlisle would be their future base! What time she has spare (from her grandchildren) is now spent with the clinic and its’s great to have someone of such experience back behind the reception desk

And Natalie has decided that work offers refuge from the delights of her two children and has also returned to swell the numbers on reception….

And in with the new

Additional vet Helen Mayo and new RVN Emma Simon are both settling in well…while Ellie Paisley our Student VN will join us as a full member of the nursing staff after her exams this summer

At which time our Head Nurse Rowena Batey will move to her new full-time role as our Practice Manager
