FREE Pre vaccination check

So you’ve just collected your puppy - but it is only seven weeks old and too young to start its’ full vaccine course…      Don’t worry - and don’t delay.

Bring the puppy in for a free health check with one of our vets, and a cuddle from one of the nurses!

• Primary puppy vaccinations  (Full course - £52.55)

To replace the temporary protection provided through the mother’s milk your puppy will require a pair of injections given two weeks apart (usually given at 8 and 10 weeks of age).   At the first visit your puppy will be scheduled a double appointment - the first to receive a complete health check from one our vets together with the initial ‘jab’, the second with one of our experiences RVNs or nursing students to discuss house training, feeding, flea and worm control, insurance, Healthcare plans, PDSA PetAid eligibility, etc.

40% discount on price of Kennel Cough vaccine (discounted price £13.10) when given at your visit for the second puppy vaccination.  Kennel Cough is the most common infectious disease we see in dogs, and is just as easily caught on a walk in the park as it is during a visit to boarding kennels.  Protection is given by a separate intra-nasal vaccine, and we hope this discount will help make it easier for as many owners as possible to give their puppy comprehensive protection against the preventable diseases.

FREE comprehensive flea and worm treatment for the first month  (usual price £12.10)

We would recommend the use of a spot-on with a multiplicity of actions - our preferred product removes roundworm, prevents lungworm, and controls fleas and ear mites in a single monthly treatment.  And if your puppy is being vaccinated at the clinic, the first monthly treatment is completely free!

FREE 3 weeks Puppy training and socialisation course

Our veterinary nurses run a series of puppy socialisation training classes on Wednesday evenings (6.45pm -7.30pm) over  three consecutive weeks to which all puppies vaccinated at the Centre are invited to join.  At these classes we will go over some basic training techniques; treats and plenty of cuddles will help us in our aim to ensure that your puppy develops into a happy, confident dog who is keen to come into the practice.

FREE first month on our popular in-house Healthcare Plus plan (worth £32.50)

Healthcare Plus protects clients from the risk of large bills should their pet be injured or become ill.  For beyond the cost of the initial consultation, all in-house clinical investigations (blood tests, x-rays, scans, etc), all prescription drugs, sedatives, anaesthetics, surgical procedures and essential nursing will be covered by the scheme no extra cost to the owner!   Each puppy which receives a full vaccine course at the Centre, and for which full payment is made at the first consultation, will receive a month’s free membership of this increasingly popular scheme.

Full terms and conditions are available here.

20% discount on an identification chip  (discounted prices - plain £12.55, ‘Biotherm’ £20.35)

Discount given when the chip is inserted at the time of the 2nd puppy vaccination.  Identification chips implanted under the skin over the shoulder blades provide owners with a reliable and simple means of permanently identifying their pet.  The presence of an identification chip will allow a straying animal to be rapidly reunited with its owner.

• FREE 6 month development check

We aim to recall all puppies at six months of age for a free assessment - our nurses will give your puppy a thorough look over, log its weight, check that its’ adult teeth are coming through properly, and will be happy to work through any behavioural problems you might be experiencing, together with a discussion of the suitability of neutering for your pet.

•  Subsidised neutering with support from the Dogs Trust

For those owners on qualifying benefits and with a qualifying breed of dog, the Centre is able to offer subsidised neutering under a scheme run by the Dogs Trust.   This scheme can reduce the cost of neutering your puppy to as little as £45   Fuller details will be available from our reception.

•  Access to our in-house out-of-hours emergency service

All vets are expected to make provision for the emergency care of those animals currently registered with their practice.   However not all practices in Carlisle provide this service themselves; several practices ‘out-source’ their emergency cover and an owner may be expected, in an emergency, to drive out to a practice some distance from the City for attention.   Ashlea Vets provides its own emergency service, in-house, where your normal veterinary surgeons will have full access to your pet’s clinical records;  having your pet vaccinated at the Centre confirms your entitlement to make use of our our-of-hours service

So with all this available at Ashlea Vets

there is no need to look elsewhere!
